Lawmakers Move To Name A/Ibom Stadium After Gov Akpabio

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has resolved that the Akwa Ibom International Stadium be named after Governor Godswill Akpabio, as a mark of recognition of his selfless service and commitment to the transformation of the state.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, said the resolution was contained in a letter sent to the governor by the House and signed on its behalf by the speaker, Elder Sam Ikon.
The statement quoted Ikon as saying “in the course of the elaborate debate on the matter, honourable members unanimously appreciated the aesthetics of the stadium, which they have seen during their on-the-spot assessment.
“They were pleased to be part of the legacy and commended His Excellency for the stadium and other milestone projects, like the Tropicana Entertainment Centre, E-Library, International Airport, New Government House, and New Reference Hospital.”
Umanah said the lawmakers saluted Akpabio for his “uncommon foresight and correct interpretation of the dreams of the forebears of the state,” adding the House equally commended “the lead contractor of the stadium project, Messrs Julius
