SDP in race to win Ogun —SEN KAKAABEOKUTA—The Senator representing Ogun East in the National Assembly, Senator Adegbenga Kaka yesterday said that contrary to insinuations within the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state, the Social Democratic Party is genuinely interested in contesting and winning the 2015 elections in the state.
The lawmaker who also denied insinuations that the SDP had forged an alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state for the 2015 elections, said the SDP was not interested in spoiling the chances of the ruling APC.
The lawmaker who stated this while speaking with newsmen during the commissioning of two blocks of three classrooms he donated to the Moslem Primary School, Imodi-Ijebu in Odogbolu Local Government Area and Zumurat-ul-Islamiyyah Primary School, Ojumele-Makun, Sagamu as well as the foundation laying at St. Paul Primary School, Ijoku, Sagamu Local Government Area.
Three senators, five House of Representatives members and other APC members loyal to former governor Olusegun Osoba recently defected to the SDP following the crisis that rocked the ruling party during the conduct of its last congresses.
Kaka who stated that their defection to the SDP was to ensure that the wish of the aggrieved former members of the APC was preserved assured that the SDP in the state would present candidates for all the elective positions in the 2015 general elections.
According to Kaka, the SDP would contest and win elections in 2015 to the chagrin of those he accused of “destroying the state.”
While commending former governor Osoba for leading them to the new party, Kaka said, all of them would have disappeared to political oblivion if the former governor had not taken the bold step.
Corroborating the Senator, the Deputy Governor, Prince Segun Adesegun hinted that those currently exhibiting over-confidence about winning next year’s elections in Ogun should be prepared for a shocker.
The deputy governor in his comments on the occasion warned politicians who have the belief that they would win next year’s election to stop deceiving themselves.
